Automate Your Meeting Prep

Meetings are a massive part of knowledge work. So much so that being good at meetings can change the trajectory of your career. Worst case, it saves you time and reduces the number of meetings you need to attend. Best case, your preparedness and follow-through brings you higher quality opportunities and career growth. The only cost is the time you need to spend to prepare.

I made a video about a shortcut I use to automate my meeting preparation, reducing my time investment to seconds while also improving the quality of my work. Let me show you what I did.

Long Term Meeting Preparation

I have a long-term meeting prep shortcut that I already demonstrated in this post. I used that shortcut to create OmniFocus projects to plan and prepare for the meetings I was responsible for running over the course of the school year.

It was essential to my success as a meeting organizer. If you have regular meetings with predetermined dates, I highly suggest you check it out!

Short Term Meeting Preparation

In this video, I show you a shortcut that I created to prepare to attend meetings run by other people.

The shortcut looks at my calendar, makes a draft with important information about my meetings then creates an OmniFocus project to remind me to process the meeting notes. I run it at the start of every workday, and it has been a game-changer!

Downloads

Click the left button below to download the Draft Meeting Note Shortcut that I demonstrated in the video above.

Click the right button below to download a plain text file with my meeting note template. I use % to indicate where I have variables filled by Shortcuts. The template is already in the shortcut, so this file is in case you want to open and work with it separately.

Is there any central piece of information I should add to my note template? If so, comment below with what I am missing.
