I spend a relatively large portion of my day consuming media. I have a post about my favorite way to consume podcasts, but video is also near and dear to my heart. I know how much effort goes into creating a quality video and I am constantly looking for new content creators who put in the time and effort to make high-quality content. For me, almost all of this discovery happens on YouTube, so when I find a channel chock full of awesome videos, I subscribe. In this article, Matt talks about how his entire life was hijacked by malcontents. All of his devices were wiped, every account hacked, and he lost every single photo of his daughter. Reading this was scary enough for me to take my password game seriously for the first time.

When you work with media from so many different sources on a daily basis, you see a ton of different media formats. I can’t spend time hunting for specialized players just to check a file. So my go to default media player is VLC Media Player from VideoLAN. Not only can it play pretty much anything you throw at it, the best part is that it is FREE!
